Despite on ongoing investigation by countless amateur sleuths on the internet and in several Facebook groups, the coverage of the case has quieted amid fears that the killer might slip away and the case might go cold.īut this week, a compelling development in the case might be at hand. But despite an unprecedented nationwide effort to identify the man on the audio and video, their efforts seemed to have proven fruitless. Police also indicated early on that they had possible DNA evidence that they were fast tracking through the lab, but haven’t commented much on that since. Investigators in Delphi announced early on that they had audio and video of the man that they think might have been responsible for the murders. But as each one was followed up on and every rabbit hole explored, it seems as if every promising tip led nowhere. Since the double murder of Libby and Abby nearly eight months ago on an isolated trail in Delphi, Indiana, there have been promising leads in the search for their killer. Is there a break in the Delphi murders of Liberty German and Abigail Williams? Let’s hope so. You can find my first, and most popular article about this case here I hope that you’ll give this a listen and share it on social media. They joined me for this episode, and shared their heartbreaking story, and also helped to clear up some incorrect information or rumors surrounding the case. I was very fortunate to meet Libby’s & Abby’s families at Crimecon this Spring, and my hope is that I can help their families with the podcast, and that it will help continue to spread the word about this case and generate tips and leads. After all, it was one of the first cases I wrote about on this blog, and is by far one of the most popular cases that people come here to read about, and share their opinions. I knew that one of the first cases I wanted to cover would be the Delphi murders of Liberty German & Abigail Williams. This podcast covers murders cases, both solved and unsolved, and includes interviews with family members of the victims. They plan to keep their orange bulbs burning until the case has finally been solved, waiting until the day they can finally turn them off.In July, of 2018 I launched a second true crime podcast called The Murder in My Family. ![]() Aside from that, IndyStar mentions that donations have also been pooled into the Libby and Abby Softball Park Fund, set up to build a park in their memory, as both of them were avid softball players (they'd actually been getting ready for spring softball practice in the days before their murder).īut the residents of Delphi have also adopted a poignant and symbolic way to remember the girls - their extended effort to "Light up Delphi." Porch lights in Delphi (and even across the nation, for a while) were replaced with orange bulbs, with local businesses donating thousands of bulbs to the cause (via WRTV). WRTV added that local businesses and athletes have even donated to that reward, raising it to well over $240,000 by early 2018. Of course there are the thousands of tips that have flooded into the police department, but there's also been a growing reward fund to solve the case. But on that note, here's everything that investigators do know. Their case - now usually called the Delphi murders - still hasn't been solved by the time of writing, and it's filled with little tidbits of scattered information, a lot of speculation, and not that many answers (at least which are available to the public). Tragedy would strike in early 2017, suddenly robbing these two innocent girls of their lives and leaving behind an enduring mystery. Living in the small town of Delphi, Ind., both of the girls should've had their entire lives ahead of them, filled with bright futures. The two of them were brought together by sports, meeting and becoming best friends through a shared love of volleyball and softball. Williams was a little quieter but open with her friends and hoping to go into some kind of investigative work. German was your usual extrovert, with a dream of one day becoming a science teacher. Liberty "Libby" German, 14 years old, and 13-year-old Abigail "Abby" Williams were both perfectly normal and sweet teenage girls. ![]()
